We will now have a detailed analysis based the important aspects of the phones.
OS and Design
When we talk about the OS of these devices all of the run on the standard Android 4.4 Kitkat. It is not the latest Android Operating System but all these phones could eventually get the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop at some point of time during this year.
The talking point here is regarding the OS Skin or Design that these phones use. The Yu Yureka has an exclusive tie up with Cyanogen OS11, which is one of the biggest developer communities out there. Thus, it could have an upper hand as far as resolving bugs, if any.
The Redmi Note has the MIUI which is a skin exclusively made by Xiaomi. This skin in my opinion resembles Apple’s iOS operating system. The overall design is very good as it’s simple and fluid in nature and also with the fact that Xiaomi has regular MIUI updates coming in.
Asus Zenfone 5 has definitely one of the best skins in my opinion. It’s Zen UI which aims to be a very intelligent design and aims at getting work done. The UI complements the phone fantastically and if I go by only the terms of Design of the UI, the Zen UI gets a nod.
The Lenovo has a Vibe UI 2.0 as it’s skin. The Vibe UI has a very Neat Design. While there is gesture control of the wave to turn page types and use volume button to unlock phone, the Vibe UI has other impressive features too. One of the features I love is the Secure Zone. What it does is create different zones in your phone. This is handy if you have multiple people operating your phone. Also, you can also set your phone back to Stock Android and the System actually allows you to do so by going into the developer’s options and changing it. This is a great move by Lenovo, especially as other manufactures try to tie you down to their respective skin or customized OS.
Winner: Zenfone 5 with it’s Zen UI
The performance of all the phones on papers is almost the same deal. But, here Yu Yureka stands out having the Snapdragon 615 processor as well as it being octa-core. Also, it having a 2GB RAM is also beneficial in running the Phone for smoother multitasking.
Winner: Yu Yureka
In my Opinion a 5″ phone is optimum and best. But If you’re a person who loves a Bigger Phone (Phablet), there are the Redmi Note as well as the Yu Yureka which give Bigger 5.5” screens. On the other hand if you more like more pixels on your screen you will be better off with the 5” Zenfone or the Lenovo A6000.
Winner: Yu Yureka
In the best shooter, the Yu Yureka and the Redmi Note are the best. They have a Great 13MP Camera, as well as a 5MP front camera shooter.
The 8MP Zenfone 5 too has a Great camera with great clarity and focus. The actual photo samples of the Lenovo A6000 are yet to be seen as it has not been released as yet, but as it has an 8MP front camera it should be sufficient.
Winner: Redmi Note
The Redmi Note has a Big 3100mAh battery on paper. It will give the best battery backup on a single charge. All the other phones have optimum battery life too, which is good enough.
Winner: Redmi Note
Other deciding factors
We also look at some other factors, such as their Availability and Brand Factors which sometimes play vital roles.
The Availability of the Yu Yureka, Redmi Note, could be phones, which could not be bought too easily due to their intense popularity.
The Yu Yureka is a phone sold exclusively on Amazon. While the Redmi Note is sold on Flipkart its has limited number to be sold, the Yureka has Flash Sales on Tuesday and can be bought Online.
The Others, Asus and Lenovo can be bought on Flipkart and could be well available for everyone who wants to buy the phone Online. Interestingly, the Lenovo A6000 has also introduced the concept of Flash Sales by making a Registration process for their Phone.
All the above phone manufactures have a decent reputation. Micromax which is the manufacturer of Yu Yureka phones has built up a good reputation in India and parts of Asia.
Redmi Note manufactured by Xiaomi is one of the biggest start-ups in the world and also interesting it managed to raise more than $1billion in their Recent IPO. Also the fact they are branded as the Chinese Apple says a lot about the brand.
Asus and Lenovo also have a great Worldwide presence. Asus has come out with Impressive phones in then past and Lenovo who own Motorola when the bought it from Google have a Great presence too.
All these phones are great bets to buy a smartphone under Rs. 10,000 in the early 2015. Stand out from this Comparison is the Micromax Yu Yureka. It has a brilliant all round performance.
The newly launched Lenovo A6000 is great to with respect to it’s price (Rs. 6,999/-). You can go for it if you’re on a tight budget.
