1320 runs a 1.7GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor with 1GB RAM. The phone is priced at INR 23,399 but surprisingly, it has a 5MP rear camera with flash.

Windows lovers will love their first Phablet from Nokia. But is it worth spending more than ~23k for this stuff? Check out the complete Nokia Lumia 1320 Review to know more.

User Experience

i. Design:

Nokia Lumia 1320 gets the typical Lumia design but this time it is better. 1320 has rounded curves instead of poky edges. It is very slim compared to its other predecessors.

First Impression: A Large Lumia device.

The phone is very large in size which makes it difficult to be handled. It has non removable battery.

The back panel is redundant as it is used only for inserting SIM & SD card. Also, the back panel is very difficult to be removed.

Useless Backpanel with non-removable battery

The sides are again covered with the back panel with the hardware buttons mounted on the back panel as you see in its siblings. But this time the sides are very slim.

The phone is extra-large to be handled using a single hand. This phablet needs a good grip on hand to avoid it from spilling off your hands.

ii. User Interface:

Nokia Lumia 1320 comes with Windows Phone 8.0 out of the box. There are very few customization options available with Windows & those are almost identical with every windows device. So do not expect a major UI change.

Themes: 2 backgrounds & 20 Accent colours.

Home screen: Tiles could be added & resized.

Lock screen: Wallpapers & Shortcuts available.

Overall the UI is very smooth to operate & the animation & transition effects are good.

iii. Display: GIANT

Nokia Lumia 13201 has the USP of 6 inches IPS display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels having pixel density of 244.78ppi.

Gorilla Glass 3 & CBD technology

The display has a special protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 with CBD technology (ClearBlack Display). CBD helps in reducing the reflections in sunlight hence improving the sunlight legibility of the phone.

The text on the phone is crisp & sharp. The contrast of the display is very good for reading long texts on the phone.

Single handed reach: Not possible

iv. Typing:

Single Handed: Single handed typing is difficult due to the width of the screen.

Dual Handed: Very good in landscape mode due to large screen size.

Swipe: No

Prediction: Good

Auto-correction: Average

Dictionary: Yes

v. Browsing:

Lumia 1320 is a great phone for surfing through the internet. The large screen makes the browsing experience wonderful.

It has Internet Explorer as the inbuilt browser & you won’t find Google Chrome browser. Scrolling, pinch-to-zoom & double tap zoom worked fine with the default browser. You can use maximum 6 multi-tabs with IE but no private browsing or incognito mode.

Pre-installed browsers: IE

Nokia Lumia 1320 Speakers

Nokia Lumia 1320 Speakers

Audio quality of Lumia 1320 is very good but the audio levels at the max are definitely not the best. It is adequate to help you to to hear the ringtone in semi-crowded place.

Speakers are placed at the bottom back side. As discussed in the Lumia 525 Review, you cannot use tap-to-seek feature in the music player. It has shuffle, repeat & favorite but misses player equalizer. Formats supported:

  • mp3- Yes
  • aac- Yes
  • wma- Yes
  • wav- Yes

Lumia 1320 supports video play upto 1080p smoothly. It could not play 4K video. Similar to Lumia 525, the device does not support flv & mkv formats.  Formats supported (480p):

  • mp4- Yes
  • flv- No
  • avi- Yes
  • mkv- No

Resolution Supported (mp4):

  • 480p (SD)- Yes
  • 720p (HD)- Yes
  • 1080p (full-HD)- Yes
  • 4K (Ultra HD)- No

Camera: POOR

Nokia Lumia 1320 (7) Nokia Lumia 1320 has a 5MP primary camera with LED Flash & AF. It is similar to Lumia 525 except the LED Flash. 1320 also has a front facing VGA camera.

The BIG drawback of Lumia 1320 is its camera. You pay ~23k for a 5MP camera which is comparable to a 10k phone of its own kind.

Price-less camera.

The camera UI is very simple. Pinch to zoom feature is available but it does not show the current zoom level. The dedicated camera hardware button is good at use. Nokia Lumia 1320 (9) The camera shoots good shots at no zoom. But as you move after 2x, the quality degrades.

1080p video shooting @30fps.

Lumia 1320 shoots 1080p videos @ 30fps. The video doesn’t lag the scene at all. Overall the camera quality for a 5MP shooter is very good but disappointed at “5MP”.

Hardware Performance: Great

Nokia Lumia 1320 carries a powerful 1.7GHz dual core Snapdragon S4 under the roof. It also has Adreno 305 GPU & 1GB RAM. It has 8GB internal memory & expandable memory upto 64GB.

The processor is loaded to process the 6 inches display. We ran some high end games like Asphalt 8. It worked butter smooth. No lags at all. The performance of the phone is worth the value.

Nokia Lumia 1320 (10)

Lumia 1320 has a non-removable 3400mAh Li-Ion battery.

The phone gets heated up while some of the activities like- playing Asphalt 8, recording 1080p videos, playing movies, etc.

Final Verdict

High Price Syndrome

Nokia Lumia 1320 is a great performer with a disappointing camera. The large display of the phone is great for surfing & watching movies but it is difficult to handle. Market Opening Price- INR 23,399.

With Windows 8.0 Black running over the phone, the UI & its transitions are good. A great Windows device but Nokia’s HIGH PRICE SYNDROME will surely affect the sales of the phone.

  • Windows Phone Lover
  • Expecting good after Sales support
  • A Gamer
  • A movie buff.
  • A photographer
  • Allergic to heated phones.
