  3. Manual, Warranty Card.

User Experience

i. Design:

Swipe Konnect 5.0 is designed to look sleek in hand. The edges are poky sharp as the back panel curves towards the front on all sides.

First Impression: Large, Sleek.

The corners are rounded. The front sports a 5.0” large display with capacitive buttons at the bottom of the screen & camera, earpiece and proximity sensors on the top.

The front has too much VOID space. The top & the bottom of the screen have too much space wasted. That makes the 5” phone look much bigger.

Hardware buttons wobble

The hardware buttons on either sides of the phone have too much play. They are not easily handy and wobble while using. This may be due to the slim signature the company wanted to maintain on the sides.

Back panel: Cheap plastic

The thin back panel reminds me of the ones used by Samsung for their Galaxy line-up. It is made up of plastic & is very flexible.

The dual SIM phone as the Card Slots very congested below the camera. The second SIM is Micro SIM (standard) & on top of it you have to place your primary SIM & SD card adjacently.

Uniqueness:

The phone has a large Wifi like Swipe logo on the back. Also the Camera bezel can help you with the recognition of the device.

The device tapers on the back towards the sides. These could be the only unique features that the phone possesses.

ii. User Interface:

In the race for giving Android’s latest Kit Kat, Swipe still provides Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 in its Konnect 5.0. There is no OS update for the phone as of today (5th July, 2014). For more details on Android OS Updates visit our page.

The UI seems to be similar to other devices with no custom skin, having stock Android OS. Swipe also provides trial version of NEXT Launcher.

iii. Display:

Swipe Konnect 5.0 has a 5” IPS display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels giving a low pixel density of 220.29ppi.

At first it felt like the low resolution might hurt, but the IPS display saves the day for Konnect. Over this, full brightness makes the screen look very crisp.

Single handed reach- Impossible

iv. Typing:

Single Handed: Typing in single handed portrait mode could be made fluent using the inbuilt gesture typing (Swipe).

Dual Handed: Landscape mode typing is fine. It could have been better if the height of the keys were larger.

Swipe: Yes

Prediction: Good

Auto-correction: Good

Dictionary: Yes

v. Browsing:

Browsing on the 5” phone has always been amazing. Double tap, pinch to zoom and scrolling works smooth. You can install your favourite browser from the number of options available on the Play Store.

Pre-installed browsers: Android Browser

Camera:

Swipe Konnect 5.0 (10)

Swipe Konnect carries an 8MP rear camera with LED Flash, 4x zoom & auto-focus. The front has a 3.2MP camera to be used for Selfies.

The camera UI is the stock that we see in phones carrying stock Android JB OS. The rear camera behaves decent in day light. Auto Focus works as expected for taking macro shots.

Unexpectedly, low light imaging with this device is disappointing. The camera could not focus properly & was unable to generate a clear image. The flash isn’t too bright to produce adequate light in pitch black.

Konnect 5.0 shoots 720p videos. Video quality is not one of the best; but it is good for a 9k phone.

The phone has 8GB internal memory & expandable storage supported upto 32GB via SD card.

The device works smooth during all tasks. There were no lags seen in daily usage of the phone. Games like Dead Trigger 2, Subway Surfer, Temple Run 2 works great.
