A Chinese mobile manufacturing brand “Xiaomi” is going to enter Indian market. They are also known as “China`s Apple”. They have plans to expand in more countries using the Android OS in their smartphones.
From an interview by Cnet with Hugo Barra, who is Xiaomi`s Global Vice President and also former Google Vice President revealed many things. Barra said that the company is going to associate with various telecom operators in India. Also he said that they are planning to sell Xiaomi smartphones at competitive prices.
He mentioned that the smartphones will be sold from their own e-commerce website. They are not going to build any smartphones on Ubuntu or Firefox OS. Rather they are only going to focus on Android OS smartphones.
From sources it is seen that Xiaomi sold 7.2 million smartphones in 2012. 18.7 million smartphones in 2013. Now they are targeting to sell over 40 million handsets in the year 2014. So they are growing rapidly. It will be interesting to see their entry into the Indian market.
Already Chinese brands like Gionee is selling smarpthones in India. It will be interesting to see how Xiaomi will introduce smartphones. Will it be better than Gionee or not? Well I think that the prices will be low. Brands like Xolo, Karbonn, Lava & Micromax have to look out for this new competitor.
