This phone is launched at a very nominal price of Rs.1,999. But is the phone worth the price? Well we will find that out. As you know Intex is one of the computer accessories manufacturer. They have entered the phone market just year ago. Intex Cloud FX is the first phone from the company using the Firefox OS.

User Experience

The first look of the phone notified that it is a sturdy phone. Even it has a 3.5 inch display it has a rough and tough feeling. Even if it drops it may survive for sure.

The phone has volume rocker and micro USB on left side of the handset. The power button and 3.5 mm audio jack is placed on the top side of the phone.

In the back of the phone you can see the logo of Intex in the center. Also you can see the loudspeaker and Firefox OS is mentioned above the loudspeaker.

Single hand usage to all the buttons is easily accessible. While taking the screenshots you cannot do it with one hand. It will not bother much, because as a user you might not need to capture screens again and again.

Below the screen you can find a home button. It can also be used for multi-tasking. It is a non back-lit button. It is showcased with a circular symbol.

User Interface

What we were interested in this phone is its UI. But hey, it is much similar to that of iOS. The most itchy part is that you do not have any back button. So if there is a back button in the app then you can come out. Otherwise you have to use the home button.

Firefox allows the user to have a control over the phone. The user can edit any permissions granted to apps. Also user can easily access the files on the memory card.

If you long press the Home Button it will show you a list of currently open processes. Touch and drag on an ongoing app and move it to the top to close the app. Well in the lockscreen, you can swipe to unlock the screen or you have an option to open the camera.

In the homescreen you can see a system search bar. You can also see various folders for social, games, multimedia and showbiz. Al these folders do contain shortcuts to useful websites for the user. These websites include YouTube, IMDb, Spotify,, etc.

While swiping the home screen towards left, you will see a menu showcasing all the installed and settings which is just similar to iOS.

This phone does not support WhatsApp. Oh, really? It might be your reaction, right? Well still you can use it by sending messages to the WhatsApp server by using a pre-installed app called as ConnectA2.

We can only see the dull colors in the 3.5 inch display screen. The viewing angles are also bad. You cannot expect much from a 165ppi display, but they could have done better.

For fast typing the keyboard will not help you at all. Even auto-correction is not done properly. To be frank, these features should in any phone, but Intex has missed it in this phone. No gesture input at all. So, we did not like the overall texting experience.

As we know that this phone has Firefox OS. What a user can expect? A good browsing experience, right? But in this case the browsing experience is not up to the mark. It takes a lot of time to open a web page even while using a high speed wi-fi connection.

So you cannot achieve a good browsing experience on a 2G connection at all. We had high hopes for the browsing experience, but we got disappointed.

If you are using a basic smartphone, you might expect a good battery. But the battery of this phone drains very fast. They should have optimized the battery.

While using apps and browsing the internet battery consumes very fast. The OS needs optimizations for improving the battery life.

The battery capacity is 1250 mAh and it is a Li-Ion battery. You can charge the phone by a small pin or microUSB. Company says that a talk time of 4h and a standby time of 200hours.

You can play Mp3 files with ease. But and you can watch videos upto 480p mp4 format. There is no support for .avi and .flv formats. You can play 360p mp4 videos with ease. While playing a 480p mp4 format video it takes more time for playback and also for seeking to a particular time frame.

The stock music player supports only mp3 audio files. It can also play mp4 videos up to a resolution of 480p. 360p mp4 files play just fine but the 480p versions takes some time for starting the playback, and also while seeking to a particular time frame.

So overall the audio quality of the music player is ok. The music player interface is very basic and has only three buttons for play/pause, next and previous.

You should not expect much from this phone`s camera. It acts like the performance of a VGA camera. So the photos are of no use and capturing a video will not serve your purpose.

Camera is of 2MP and the photo captured from the camera is having a resolution of 1600×1200 px. The video can be captured of 352×288 pixels at 12 fps. A photo can be captured while shooting a video. You just have to tap the screen while shooting a video.

There is no Auto Focus feature in the camera. But it is easy for the user to take screenshots when you are recording a video.

The smartphone has a 1 GHz Spreadtrum processor. With a 128 MB RAM the phone does depict delays while playing with the User Interface. The user can feel the delays while sliding down the notifications drawer, opening the camera app, accessing the file manager and while capturing the screenshots.

So while using the phone the user will surely get delays, but the phone never hangs. Surprisingly our review handset got shut down on its own. It was very frustrating to ON the device even after removing and placing the battery again in the right position.

Final Verdict

We think that the company should take performance of the phones very seriously. Improvement of the battery backup is essential for the phones running on Firefox OS. People lookout for a good battery backup and this phone doesn’t serve the purpose.

Firefox must the performance of the phones running Firefox OS very seriously and should also do something about the battery backup of phones running on Firefox. It will be better for the buyer to wait for the next Firefox OS phone.

We liked few things about the Firefox OS. The app permissions control given to the user is a good move. The OS is simple and easy to use for a normal user. The phone is slow and the battery will not last even after a full charge. So we will not recommend this phone to the buyers.

  • Love gaming
  • Watch FHD videos
  • Travel to crowded places frequently
