Xolo added one more device to its Q-series smartphones- Xolo Q600S. It is marketed as the Kit Kat phone available at the price tag as cheap as Rs. 7,499.
Xolo Q600S comes with a high competition overhead, facing Moto E and other highly marketed phones like Micromax unite 2 & Lava Iris X1. But this slim 4.5-inch device has something better than these phones.
Let us take you through the Xolo Q600S Review to know more about the device.
Our PromiseWe review phones with an obsessive focus on the experience that really matters to you. We don’t care about specifications, we will tell you what you will really feel while using the phone. And needless to say, we maintain total integrity and truthfulness in our reviews.
Highlights: Pros and Cons
What does the Retail Package come with?
- The Handset, Battery, Flipcover.
- USB Cable, charger, Headphones.
- Screen Guard, Manual, Warranty Card.
Xolo Q600S Review:
Xolo Q600S has a better looks than its previous siblings. It is available in 2 variants- black & white. We reviewed the white-variant; although both look elegant.
First Impression: Sleek.
The front shows fully laminated 4.5-inch display with 3 capacitive buttons at the bottom. The sides are rounded for better grip but the edges are poky. The top and bottom are flat.
The back panel is as flimsy as those in Galaxy devices. You can easily fold the back panel up to 90 degrees. The back panel has 10-15 notches which makes it uncomfortable to remove and fit the back panel again and again. It takes around 10 presses to make the panel settle perfectly at the back of the phone.
Back panel: Flimsy, Cheap plastic
There is a good looking bezel around the camera. But the bezel came out within 3 days of use. It seems that the bezel was simply stuck on an adhesive strip. It left me highly disappointed.
Camera Bezel came out
Xolo Q600S has 2 slim slots and a micro SD card slot with a removable battery. There are 2 hardware buttons on the right side- Volume Rocker and the Power button.
The rounded sides and the camera bezel make up this phone’s unique identification points.
ii. User Interface:
The latest UI being the USP of this device at affordable price is much highlighted. Xolo Q600S sports Android 4.4.2 out of the box.
The OS looks are as expected from a stock Kit Kat phone. But the device was showing lags many times. This sluggish UI performance could be mainly due to the inappropriate software optimization from Xolo.

Q600S has a 4.5-inch IPS OGS display having resolution of 960 x 540 pixels (244.77ppi). Xolo’s standard OGS display adds spice to the display.
The display is over reflective. But it did not matter much with full brightness setting.
Single handed reach- Yes
Single Handed: Typing in single handed portrait mode is great due to adequate screen size.
Dual Handed: Landscape mode typing is average. Keys are not adequate in height; could have been better.
Browsing on Xolo Q600S is as smooth as expected. No lags were found while double-tapping, pinch-to-zoom, scrolling, etc.
Better part is that there are no bunch of browsers pre-installed other than stock browser. So you can install the one you like from the Play Store.
Pre-installed browsers: Android Browser
The speakers are placed at the bottom back side of the phone. The audio quality is good and so are the audio levels. But the speakers aren’t the best from Xolo.
It could play 1080p videos without any lags. You can enjoy all your Full HD movies on this phone.

Xolo Q600S carries a 5MP rear camera with AF, LED Flash & 4x zoom. The front has a VGA camera to be used for Selfies.
The camera UI is as stock as the OS. The camera performance was above my expectations. The 5MP shooter performed as the 8MP camera found in other phones at the similar price range.
Low light imaging was average. Flash is not too intense to throw light at the near-distant objects. The front camera is the poor VGA which will not shoot good selfies. You’ll have to practice selfies by rotating your phone and using the rear camera.
Xolo Q600S shoots 720p videos. There were no lags or frame drops in the video. Video quality is not one of the best; but it is good for a 7.5k phone.
Xolo Q600S houses a Broadcom BCM23550 chipset having 1.2GHz quad core processor. It is coupled with 1GB RAM & the Broadcom VideoCore IV GPU.
The device is low on internal memory. So you cannot install too many apps in the phone. Although external memory could help you up to some extent.
The device performed smoothly except for some UI lags. Playing games and other operations were as expected.
Pre-installed Apps & Games
- 2G, 3G
- Dual SIM
- Wi-Fi with hotspot
- USB 2.0
- FM Radio
- Wi-Fi Direct
Xolo Q600S has an average battery life with 2000mAh Li-Ion juice. The battery does not get heated up while playing games.
Xolo Q600S is launched at Rs. 7,499 and available at lower price with the online sellers. The device definitely not the best you can expect from a smartphone. But it’s not one to be neglected.
Good: Kit Kat, slim-design, camera, display
Poor: Sluggish UI, camera bezel.
You can buy this phone only if you are too much particular about latest Android OS.
Recommended: Best Phones under Rs. 10,000.
